The Bush Fan Club Grows

Steve Forbes campaigned hard against President Bush. During the race, he complained that he was a conservative running against moderates (Bush and McCain), that Bush didn't have any ideas, and that Bush was a tool for the lobbyists. In fact, I think it fair to say that Forbes wasn't terribly impressed by Bush.

Times have changed.

"He inherited a bad situation and is turning it around," Forbes said. "I will be backing him enthusiastically" for re-election.

I'd agree.

I still think Forbes's flat-tax plan is the best idea I've heard in a long time, and I think Forbes would have been a much better candidate for reigning in government spending. Still, it's good to know that Steve now feels strongly (and positively) about the President.

Now, if we could just slim down that budget a little bit...
