A Beautiful Poetry

President Bush's speech in Senegal has received its share of attention--I wish I had heard it. Reading through portions of the speech, though, I came upon this at CNN:

"The stolen sons and daughters of Africa helped to awaken the conscience of America," Bush said. "The very people traded into slavery helped to set America free. My nation's journey toward justice has not been easy and it is not over."

This is an amazing way to start his trip through the continent--with beautiful words to remind us of how the struggle against a tragic, inhuman trade brought us closer to the America we love.

He may not have the easy way of Reagan, or the amazing command of public speaking of Churchill, but President Bush does have conviction.

Read the story on CNN.

Careful with that last sentence.
It sounds far too much like what I heard about Clinton:
"Say what you will about Clinton's friends, they sure have their convictions...." Especially the McDougals, huh?

Yeah, but this time it was pretty good!

I can't take credit for this one. I actually did hear someone else say it.
